It’s always a hotly contested battle but the film that has won the hearts of the region and will be screened at the Tyneside Cinema on Valentine’s Day is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Each year the Pilgrim Street movie hotspot asks film goers to pick the North East’s most romantic film and the 2004 film triumphed, despite an early flurry of votes for Truly Madly Deeply starring the late acting legend Alan Rickman.
