It’s always a hotly contested battle but the film that has won the hearts of the region and will be screened at the Tyneside Cinema on Valentine’s Day is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Each year the Pilgrim Street movie hotspot asks film goers to pick the North East’s most romantic film and the 2004 film triumphed, despite an early flurry of votes for Truly Madly Deeply starring the late acting legend Alan Rickman.
Starring Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tells the story of Clementine undergoes a procedure to erase memories of her former boyfriend Joel from her mind after they break up.
When Joel discovers that Clementine is going to extremes to forget their relationship, he undergoes the same procedure and slowly begins to forget the woman that he loved.
The film received a good reaction from critics and audiences alike and if you want to see exactly what it topped the Tyneside Cinema poll, get your tickets for the 4.50pm screening on Valentine’s Day from the box office or online.
